The Who began in 1964 in London. The band was made up of guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend, singer Roger Daltev, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. The rock band dressed as Mod’s and had dynamic live performances that would often end up with the band smashing up their instruments. In 1965 they released ‘My Generation’ with the lyric that summed up the swinging sixties era: ‘Hope I die before I get old’.
